Career

1980s - 1997

Conducted his first orchestra at age 5 in Seattle, Washington. The occasion was the "birthday" of a very old fishing boat, the orchestra a Navy ensemble brought in for the occasion.

He began playing violin at age 6, learning to play on a 3/4 size instrument. By age 13 he was a veteran street performer, the sidewalk in front of the Seattle Opera House his stage. He was given recognition in the Seattle Opera House newsletter after a few years of regular performance.

During this time he also performed with the Music Center of the Northwest chamber groups, featured on King FM 98.1.

1998 - present

When he was 17, he attended the Tacoma bluegrass competition, Wintergrass, and jammed with several groups.

Having found a profound freedom in improv, from that day he decided composition was what he wanted to do, and that is exactly what he did and continues to do.

Military Career

Began legal working life as a soldier in the United States Army.

Today he is a Sattelite Communications Systems Operator/Maintainer, and graduate of the Basic Installers Course.

Reviews

An Open Mind

  • "...amazing composition and the musicianship is impeccable... A definitive album of the genre, possibly destined to be one of the greatest ever." - Jef Peace, on CD Baby
  • "Louis has composed, arranged and performed an album of material that is ambient overall but contains a range of moods and emotions...this CD do not drone on and on in endless loops as do some other CDs in this genre...refreshing and exciting." - Anon, on CD Baby
  • "I generally don't like electronica, but the soothing and motivating songs on this disc really does the trick...Louis Lamp has written a beautiful medley of sounds that together help you to unwind...I highly recommend it to anybody that wants easy to listen to tracks that still manage to pack a nice punch. This is the way the entire genre should be!" - Paul, on Amazon.com
